The Society of British Dental Nurses
You can find The Society of British Dental Nurses on stand f05
The Society of British Dental Nurses has a unique focus on development, learning and education and came to fruition to support student dental nurses, those returning to work after a career break and current dental nurses across this rapidly changing landscape and at the request of many dental nurses. Never has there been such an exciting time to be a dental nurse, but we are only too aware that with that comes a need to embrace learning and development and very clear lines of support and guidance. The Society are a not-for profit group and put everything back into dental nursing and support charitable causes.
The Society was formed some 4 yrs ago and has gone from strength to strength. It was founded by a group of established dental nurses with not only a wealth of clinical experience but also a great deal of both academic and strategic delivery at board level. The Executive Board is made up of appointed officers all who are registered dental nurses, the ambassador group demonstrates an enormous range of clinical skills and expertise across the 18 dental nurses and the Fellows Board consists of a well known group of Professors, consultants and academics who bring a different level of expertise. We are very proud to have a number of regional groups and strong links with all of the Nations. We work very closely with key stakeholder groups, fellow professional DCP groups, the General Dental Council, The Royal Colleges and many more. The Society introduced the National Dental Nurses Day (22nd Nov) and the Professor Robert Ireland Annual Lecture and is very proud of its mentoring work.
The Society is a membership based organisation who provide an enormous amount of benefits and we are adding to them all of the time. Member benefits are attached to learning hub events, conferences and other events, although the Society will never turn away a dental nurse in need, hence the emergency helpline. The membership is broken onto 4 categories and has something for everyone. We guide on insurance/indemnity and career pathways, but we also accept that some dental nurses just want to be the best they can be and we must not forget them.
