Aims
This presentation aims to provide an overview of the challenges faced by the dental team in caring for an ageing population including issues related to capacity, relevant medical conditions and treatment planning.
Outcomes
By the end of the lecture the participant should be able to:
- Identify relevant legislation relating to the care of older people.
- Describe challenges posed to the dental team when treating frail, older people.
- Discuss medical conditions prevalent in the older population and their relevance to dental care.
- Understand the principles of appropriate treatment planning for frail, older people.
