Aims
- To highlight the common risk factor approach to improving oral health for people experiencing homelessness/ drugs and alcohol and the link to cessation services
- To outline the challenges facing vulnerable adults in accessing dental services
- To share good practice of local success stories
Objectives
- Participants will understand their role/ responsibility in the provision of oral health care for people experiencing homelessness/ drugs and alcohol
- Be aware of the need to adopt a person centred approach to delivering oral health care
- Have knowledge/ understanding of the benefits to signposting to cessation services
Learning content
The workshop is intended to create an understanding of the challenges facing this client group, and how adopting a person centred, holistic approach to oral health care can lead to positive experiences for patients and clinicians, with increased active participation.
